It is with the deepest sadness that we felt the need to develop this website which serves as a warning to anyone who gets approached by a company based in Istanbul called (Trendy Hayat Mimari Dekorasyon Mobilya ve Organizasyon Pazarlama ithalat ihracat Ticaret Ltd.Şti) otherwise know as Trendy Hayat, offering services for manufacturing goods.

We have fallen victim to this company and this website has been setup with the sole purpose of exposing their scam to the world and also protecting others who may be approached by them. Our full story is posted below.

Please note. We are taking legal action against Trendy Hayat and have also filed criminal complaints to the business bureu and also the local police department for fraud and theft. All will be revealed below.

The first email which we received was on the 2nd June 2022 from Merve. Coincidentally at the time, I was in communication with another supplier and they suggested moving production to Turkey due to the long container freight times from China.

We ignored them for several weeks afterwards and o0n the 20th June we requested a sample to be produced from them for a simple model from our range.

The cat tree which we asked for is pictured below:

They returned with a sample price of 83 usd for 50 pieces, which was within our budget. They also advised that the sample cost would be 120USD. You can find their “official quotation” for this sample below:

By the 24th June they advised:

Hı Jon,

All of our material supplies for the sample product are being completed today . I get the cover thing done from my vacuum plastic manufacturer . Today all the materials will come together and on Monday morning we will start to assemble on technique. And I will be sending you videos and pictures during the production phase. Today I wanted to give you the status İnformation, everything is Fine. I hope we will deliver the best sample and it will be a good start of cooperation for all of us.

A couple of weeks later they sent us this.

As you can see from what they sent us, the sample is completely the wrong colour, the posts are bend and not aligned, the hammock is the wrong style and the rope is the incorrect thickness. A completely poor effort in making the sample when all the specifications were provided to them.

Their excuse? See below..

Hi Jon,

Yes, the hammock is not exactly the right style because the metal has to be molded in production to be correct. We used wire metal support in the sample to prevent it from breaking into the wood with the possibilities we have now. During production, we can take the original sample from you and produce exactly the same with the mold. If you remember the 1st sample, we know that we covered the bottoms with fabric, but in the 2nd sample, we used 600 dens fabric and we folded the bottoms with a different fabric since the color and m2 of the special woven production is this much. Since it will be made to order in production, we can have exactly the same fabric as needed. As we said in our first meeting, since we used plastic caps that we could find, the pipes in this photo were used in a thinner diameter, but we also produced them in the required diameter, and I am sending them as an attachment with the new photo. We will add 1 to the package for you to see the narrow pipes and caps. We will be able to produce the plastic covers exactly the same as the sample that will come from you during the order. We reached this conclusion at the stage of 2 samples by just looking at the technical drawing and photograph and trying it, without a sample. If you send us 1 set of samples during production, we can show you that we do the same. I hope you are satisfied with our work,

It is clear that at this point they want us to commmit to a full production in order to produce the samples correctly as they cannot buy the materials? I responded as follows:

I don’t want to waste money shipping an incomplete sample to Thailand where I live as it will be a waste of everyones time and money. It is very expansive to ship.

No point to send the posts unless they have the plastic cap so the only way it sounds like we can get a proper sample is to confirm a full production run which is a little abnormal..

If that is what we need to do to get a proper completed sample then I will have to be in touch after out current container arrives and we have sold the stock,

but really I would prefer to have a proper completed sample and not a sample which is not finished – but will be finished once we confirm the order.

You can only produce a completed sample until we confirm a full production run?

You are quite right. We had a very difficult time collecting the products for the sample. Many manufacturers here do not want to give less material before making bulk orders . We tried to find and complete the individual ones with the same quality and features. If possible, I will ask you for a sample of a metal hammock with a plastic cover and fabric upholstered. There is no problem in sisal, we used natural rope and according to the color pantones, the color we want can be produced. The fabric can be made in bulk in 600 dens and the color we want. If you can send them to my address quickly, I think and hope that we can complete the same quickly and move on to the next stage 🙂

They then kept emailing us to send a sample of the hammock to Turkey and on the 9th August we responded advising it was not possible but we will send them images and videos of the hammock to produce. On the 15th of August, sensing our frustration Merve replied with:

How are you? Material We extracted photos and details from our previous conversations and technical details. Please don’t waste your time posting photos again. I was so embarrassed and upset that I still couldn’t prepare the sample and we decided to remake every material, fabric, metal ring, plastic cover as needed and make up a third time to complete the sample 100%. And all of them are ready to be combined now. The product you want

I do my best to deliver as promised. I will surprise you and share the final version. Wait for news from me.

Ont hen 24th August, they sent us this….

Hi Jon,

As we promised, I am sending you the photos and videos of the 3rd sample we prepared as an attachment. The fabric was made of 600 gsm welsoft special woven. Dyeing was done to keep the color closest. Hammock metal ring is specially produced according to the technique. Pipes were made in accordance with the technique. We wanted to change the color of the rope as desired, but we preferred to use natural sisal because the ready-made materials contain nylon, because the color we want can also be dyed in mass production. Plastic caps were attached to the pipes, but we prepared the technical drawing and design for the mold in mass production. I hope you like it and I wish it to be as you want 🙂

As you can see, the materials they have purchased are completely different to our requested sample and incredibly poor quality. They have ignored all of the specifications which we sent to them and produced something which (after 3 attempts) looks absolutely nothing like product we requested.

At this point we are getting nervous and 3 months have already passed and we are no closer to getting an acceptable sample. We ignore them until the 23rd September despite multiple emails being sent as we were dealing with our other containers and we agree to a small production run only on the basis that we can have completed samples signed off.
